MEMBERSHIP

Firstly, a very big THANK YOU to all those who have joined, and encouraged others to do the same. We are gaining momentum, making excellent progress, but time is running short! A comment from one of our members, who is also a member of Bath Rugby:

If every Season Ticket Holder signed up – 6,000+ If every Season Ticket Holder got 5 more to sign up – 30,000 So, why are we stuck on just over 2,000? C’mon guys and gals, this matters!

Remember - The higher the membership the greater the influence. It is VITAL, if we want top quality sport and culture to REMAIN AT THE REC, more people are needed to show their active support and join the “Real Friends of The Rec”. This Christmas, ask friends and relatives if they too want to be a part of the voice determined to retain top quality sport and culture in the centre of Bath. It’s easy – just click here . If you don’t have access to an email address, please, just leave your postcode. It’s your support that counts!

AIMS

In laymen’s terms, our aims include giving Bath Rugby, the major financial contributor to the Rec, the support that is needed to retain top flight rugby IN Bath. But while they will be the main sport, we are approaching other sports and Events to make any redevelopment viable, including: Cricket, Football, Baseball, Marathon Running/Athletics and Hurling/Gaelic Football to name a few. In addition, we aim to encourage the Trustees of the Bath Recreation Ground to continue to consider the best interests of the City of Bath as regards the Rec, particularly its long-term financial viability.

ACTIONS

In addition to liaising with Bath Rugby, meaningful talks have now taken place with the local Somerset Cricket organizers hopeful of returning a full 5 day Summer festival to the Rec, together with prospects of an exciting 20/20 programme. Talks with Bath City Football continue, and at least one other major sport new to the Rec. Discussion continues with charity lawyers, and other businesses keen to be a part of the Voice of the Rec. Important talks also continue with the Chair of the Trustees, updating him with our members and offers of support.
